SOLIID —Soldier Innovation, Integration & Development— is the innovation initiative of the NL MoD Center of Expertise on Soldier Modernization, the Clothing & Personal Equipment branche and TNO. SOLIID aims to initiate, organize, realize and accellerate innovation for the combat soldier.

Fielding better soldier kit faster

The SOLIID initiative strives to field the best possible solutions for combast soldiers as fast as possible based on solid experimental evidence. SOLIID use a four stage approach to select viable technologies:
1. Quick scan of alternatives
2. Controlled technology evaluation
3. Function field evaluation (e.g. on the SOLIID LEAP)
4. Operational evaluation with a unit.
At an overall duration of 2 – 8 months, depending on the technology under evaluation, the operational usability and added value of a ‘solution’ is assessed. Is it compliant with norms, rules and regulations; is it safe; what is the proven added value; and what is the opinion of expert users.

To carry out evaluations SOLIID disposes of varies modern experimental facilities such as virtual reality set-ups, climate chambers and the SOLIID LEAP.
